Course Description
This refresher course is designed to give you the knowledge relating to operating an elevating work platform that is not classified as requiring a High-Risk Work (HRW) licence.
This will typically include a boom lift under 11m and a scissor lift
If you need to operate boom lifts that have a capacity beyond 11m you will need to complete the HRW license course

Course Objectives:
To renew or replace your Boom/Scissor Lift Yellow Card through our online refresher course, then this is what you can expect:
1. Course Introduction
• Purpose: Understanding the importance of the Boom Lift Yellow Card and why regular refreshers are necessary for safety and compliance.
• Objectives: Reiterate key safety practices, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
2. Safety Regulations and Compliance
• Regulatory Standards: Review safety regulations relevant to boom lifts.
• Safety Guidelines: Overview of the latest guidelines and best practices for operating boom lifts safely.
3. Equipment Overview
• Types of Boom Lifts: Differences between telescoping, articulating, and trailer-mounted boom lifts.
• Components and Functions: Understanding key parts of the boom lift and their functions.
4. Operation Procedures
• Pre-Operation Inspection: How to conduct a thorough pre-operation check to ensure equipment is in safe working condition.
• Operational Controls: Review of boom lift controls and their functions, including steering, lifting, and extension.
5. Safe Operation Practices
• Stabilisation: Techniques for ensuring the lift is stable before use.
• Worksite Hazards: Identifying and mitigating potential hazards in the work area.
• Emergency Procedures: Steps to take in case of an emergency or equipment malfunction.
6. Quiz and Assessment
• Knowledge Check: A quiz or assessment to test your understanding of the course material.
• Feedback: Immediate feedback on quiz performance to reinforce learning.
Requirements
To be eligible for this refresher course, you will require:
1. Photo identification : IE your driver\’s licence, Photo ID, Passport, etc
2. An RTO-issued Statement of Attainment listing your Operate Elevating Work Platform competency that is less than 6 years old. It needs to list the unit RIIHAN301D (or RIIHAN301E) or TLILIC0005

3. You will need to provide your valid unique student identifier (USI).
4. A photo of your old card.

To proceed with this course, students will require
• a reasonable level of reading and writing English
• Be at least 16 years of age
• As this is an online course, you will need any device with an internet connection and you will need basic computer skills
Duration
• usually completed in 3-4 hours (an hour or 2 over a couple of nights) – self-paced.
• you have up to 60 days to complete the course.
What will you receive on completion?
a newly issued Statement of Attainment RIIWHS204E
a new Wallet Card
